The Rotary Club of Katipunan continues to empower persons with disabilities (PWDs) and their families through its long-standing PWD Empowerment Program, a signature community service initiative since 2017. Anchored on Rotary’s commitment to community economic development, inclusion, and Service Above Self, the program provides practical skills that open pathways toward sustainable livelihood and greater economic independence.
On August 8, 2026, the club partnered with BVG Foundation Inc. and the New Vois Association of the Philippines (NVAP) to provide participants from Matandang Balara, Gulod, Bagbag, and Batasan Hills with hands-on training in printing and product customization.
Held at The Uniprint Main Office and Training Facility in Quezon City, the session was facilitated by Uniprint Training Officer Mr. Michael Beltran. Participants learned the complete printing process—from concept development, artwork preparation, design, and layout to heat-transfer application on mugs, bags, shirts, and other marketable products.
The training was designed not simply to impart technical knowledge, but to strengthen confidence and create opportunities for participants to develop or expand livelihood ventures. Many PWD families rely on small enterprises such as sewing, food carts, and other community-based businesses to meet their daily needs. By equipping them with new and marketable skills, Rotary helps them respond to changing economic demands and build greater resilience.
At the conclusion of the training, participants received certificates recognizing their dedication to learning and livelihood development.
After nine years of continuous implementation, the PWD Empowerment Program demonstrates that meaningful service goes beyond providing assistance. It is about creating opportunities, building capabilities, and empowering people to become more self-reliant. Through partnerships and purposeful action, the Rotary Club of Katipunan continues to create lasting impact— one skill, one opportunity, and one empowered entrepreneur at a time.
More than a one-day training session, the PWD Empowerment Program reflects Rotary’s enduring commitment to service, inclusion, and community empowerment. By equipping PWDs and their families with marketable skills, practical knowledge, and renewed confidence, the program opens doors to dignity, resilience, and self-reliance.
